OUR COMMUNITY

Meet our Centre Manager.

Hi, I’m Kelly, and I’m incredibly proud to lead the team here at AppleBerries Burnside. With over 20 years of experience in early childhood education and care, I’ve had the privilege of working with children aged 6 weeks to 12 years across long day care, in-home care, and out of school hours programs.

My passion lies in creating warm, safe, and inspiring environments where children feel valued, curious, and confident to be themselves. I strongly believe in the power of play-based learning to shape social skills, academic success, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

As a parent myself, I understand the trust families place in us. I’m committed to building strong, open relationships with every family and fostering a culture of support, empathy, and growth. Together, we can achieve truly amazing outcomes for your child.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Service Philosophy

At AppleBerries Early Education Service Burnside, our children learn about the world by becoming part of it, they explore and learn about their surroundings through play.  We engage in a play-based approach which inspires a child’s natural curiosity to learn. By consistently planning, creating and offering experiences that extend on the children’s skills and developmental levels, we’re fostering the wellbeing of each child and developing their cognitive, physical, social, emotional, artistic and environmental knowledge and skills.

We commit to create a welcoming environment where each child’s voice is heard, recognised and reflected throughout the service.  By building genuine reciprocal relationships with each child’s family, and with a strong focus on understanding each child and recognising and responding to their individual needs, we are able to develop meaningful, positive and supportive relationships with each child, their families and our team of educators.

We believe that everyone has the right to be safe, respected and to learn. We acknowledge that families are the children’s first teachers, and our curriculum is a collaborative approach between children, families and staff.  Our service values Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures as a core part of our nation’s history, present day and future.  We embrace the belief that all people have the right to their individual and cultural identity being recognised and respected.

Through critical reflection, professional development and evaluative practices, we endeavour to provide an environment which supports families in the care and education of our children. Through the sharing of knowledge, open communication and collaborative decision-making, we extend our individual understandings to build partnerships between us and the wider community.
